Catherine Houston Williams -- devoted wife and mother of four -- was born on January 6, 1941 in Wedowee, Alabama to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.C. and Eunice (Wright) Houston. This large loving family included five (5) sisters, and five (5) brothers. One (1) sister, Ethel Bell, preceded her in death; and all five (5) brothers: L.C., Jesse Gene, Cleophus, Kenny, and lastly, Willie Louis.
From a very early age, Catherine attended Friendship Baptist Church, Wadley, Alabama with her family of origin.
On June 21, 1962, Catherine married the love of her life, Willie H. Williams, in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. Willie was also a Randolph County native from Roanoke. Their marriage was fruitful, giving rise to Michael (deceased), Kelvin G. Williams (Cynthia), and Toni Williams both of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kathy Pass (Eric) of Decatur, Georgia. While residing in Atlanta, Catherine joined and served at the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where she remained a faithful member until her home going.
Catherine worked as a housekeeper, cook, and in later years, for the Atlanta Public Schools, as a substitute teacher.
Our family experienced one of the most difficult moments of our lives when Catherine peacefully transitioned from this life onWednesday afternoon, September 12, 2018 at Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia. Although we braced for the time when we would have to say goodbye to her, nothing could have prepared us to face that moment. We were just not ready to meet the moment of departure. But, because we know that God loved her best, we submit to His will..
In addition to her children, Catherine also leaves a devoted husband, Mr. Willie H. Williams of Atlanta, Georgia. Her surviving siblings include: Nora Holloway (Lonnie) and Gertrude Kelly both of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mary Frances Johnson of Roanoke, Alabama. She is also survived by fifteen (15) grandchildren and fourteen (14) great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
