I AM STANDING UPON THE SEASHORE
I am standing upon the seashore,
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
Then someone at my side said "There, she is gone!"
Beverly Ann Rowland was born October 16, 1944, in Waresville, Heard County, Georgia. She is the daughter of the late Leon and Lizzie Ruth (Burden) Hall. She was raised by her Stepmother, Jessie Mae Hall in Atlanta, Georgia.
Beverly Ann married Mr. Calvin Rowland, Jr. of Roanoke, and although their union produced no children, they shared many wonderful years together and made decades of loving memories. The couple resided in Roanoke, for several years, where she mostly engaged in domestic work. However, Mrs. Rowland also worked for a time in the local garment manufacturing industry, at Terry Manufacturing Company and Palm Beach Manufacturing in Roanoke. They later migrated from Roanoke to Birmingham, Alabama, where Beverly Ann lived out the remaining days of her life. Over several years of her life, Beverly stood in as a second mother, to many of her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four (4) brothers: John Hall, Moses Hall, Alton Hall, and Nebuchadnezzar "Neb" Hall.
Mrs. Beverly Ann Rowland quietly departed this life on Saturday, September 26 2026 at her residence in Birmingham. With her transition from this earthly life, she has gone to a land where there is no suffering, sickness or pain. She was a faithful member of The East Roanoke Pure Holiness Church Of God in Roanoke, Alabama, Timothy Wright, Pastor.
Mrs. Rowland shared many bright smiles to this world, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, including: her husband, Calvin Rowland, Jr.; sisters: Priscilla Ednesone of Cache, OK, Darlene Pinkston of Atlanta, GA, and Carey Hall of Atlanta, GA; four (4) brothers-in-law and eleven (11) sisters-in-law; special friends, Jane Ogilvie, Toney Bowden, Lucinda Harmon, and Helen Owens. She also leaves to cherish many fond memories a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
More details will be forthcoming.
In Loving Memory. . .
We journeyed a long way, but we made it.
Take your rest now Beverly, my sister.
Love Always,
Your sister Priscilla
I Am Standing Upon The Seashore
I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come
to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says;
"There, she is gone!"
"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull
and spar as she was when she left my side
and she is just as able to bear her
load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone
at my side says, "There, she is gone!"
There are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout;
"Here she comes!"
And that is dying.
