It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Artis Bernard Trammell, who departed this life on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the age of 49. A lifelong resident of Roanoke, Alabama, Artis was a man of strong character, deep passion, and unwavering dedication to his family, work, and community.
A Passion for Life
Born in LaGrange, Georgia, Artis was the beloved son of Annie P. Trammell of Roanoke, AL, and the late Calvin Trammell, Sr. As a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, Artis understood the power of faith in overcoming life’s challenges. He walked his journey with God, finding strength in his beliefs and sharing that faith with others. Artis truly believed in education and self-improvement, after he graduated from Wadley High School, he attained degrees from Southern Union State Community College and West Georgia Technical College.
His career as an electrician, journeyman, and supervisor at ANCI was more than just a job—it was a testament to his work ethic and resilience. He thrived in roles that allowed him to solve problems, mentor others, and contribute meaningfully. His colleagues remember him as a steady hand, a reliable leader, and a man who took pride in doing things right. Artis was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in woodworking, cabinet making, working on cars, traveling, photography, and fitness training. A skilled electrician and journeyman, Artis was a testament to his work ethic and resilience. His love for fitness training was more than a pastime—it was a commitment to self-improvement and perseverance.
A Legacy of Faith and Strength
Artis began his heavenly journey on Saturday morning, March 15, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Trammell, Sr. and several uncles and aunts. Friends and family will remember Artis not just for his skills, but for his laughter, his wisdom, and the way he could fix anything—not just with his hands, but with his heart. He had an uncanny ability to listen, to offer advice without judgment, and to be there when it mattered most. His impact was felt not just in what he built, but in the lives he touched.
Artis leaves a large extended family to mourn his passing. He was a devoted father to his two children, Kevin Trammell of Roanoke, AL, and Haley Trammell of Carrollton, GA, who will forever cherish his love and guidance. He was also a dear brother to Tracie Trammell of Roanoke, AL, and Calvin Trammell, Jr. of Newnan, GA; and the beloved nephew of Rev. W.H. Trammell of Roanoke, Aunts: Dora Hildreth, Bernice Trammell, Rudene McCants, Julia Cofield. Artis also leaves behind a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
Rest in peace, Artis. Your journey here is done, but your love and legacy remain.
