With deepest reverence and love, the Foster family announces the passing from this life of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Anthony Lynn Foster 55, of Roanoke. A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, he is already deeply missed. Anthony was at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama in Wedowee. His passing has left us with very heavy hearts, as we strive to continue this journey. We appreciate all the love and prayers that have come our way in these difficult moments. More details will be available, soon.
At the youthful age of 55, Anthony Lynn Foster heard God's call, and returned home to God's loving arms on Sunday, June 30, 2024. He was at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama, in Wedowee.
That morning, his transition left a deep void in the hearts of all who loved him: beginning with his wife of 32 years, Angela Foster of Roanoke; his sons: Phillip Foster of Columbus, GA; and Anthony D. Foster (Andrea) of Clarksville, TN; and two (2) grandchildren: Avery and Aspen Foster also of Clarksville. Starting his wonderful family on June 9, 1992, he married the love of his life, Angela Winston.
As an enlisted member of the U.S. Armed Forces, they raised their sons, as Anthony honorably served our grateful nation in the Persian Gulf, during "Desert Storm." Anthony's military Decorations were numerous — and included: The South West Asia Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, Army Achievement Medal, 2nd OLC Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle, M-16 Expert Marksmanship Badge, Grenade Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Lapel Button, Defense of Kuwait Medal, and lastly Saudia Arabia.
A seasoned medical professional, Anthony attended West Georgia Technical College, where he trained in Radiography. This training laid the foundation for many years of service that he would later give at several medical facilities: East Alabama Medical Center (Opelika), Newnan Hospital, and Randolph Medical Center (Roanoke). An enthusiastic Christian and student of theology, Anthony also graduated from Titus Bible Seminary, LaGrange, GA in 2012.
Anthony was one of seven (7) children born March 27, 1969, to the union of the late Eddie B. "Bill" Foster and Annie Ruth Glenn. Anthony was preceded in death by one brother, Paul David Foster; while leaving behind one (1) brother: Bishop Gregory Foster aka "Beck" (Erma) of Troy, Alabama; and four (4) sisters: Shirley Magby (Reverend Charlie Magby) of Roanoke, Catherine Glenn, also of Roanoke, Renee Goss (Reverend Michael Goss) all of Roanoke and Michelle Hall (Tony) of Orlando, Florida.
Anthony spent a lot of time, working on himself... as a member of the Free Masons; and attending Friendship Baptist Church (Bacon Level); working as a handyman and enjoying an occasional fishing excursion. Despite his many interests, he always found time for his two (2) special aunts: Linda Owensby and Sharon Winston.
In spite of all, we, the family are truly grateful to God, though life for him may have ended at 55, he gave it his best, for as long as he was here. With the limited timeframe God gave Anthony, he achieved as much as he could; and spread his love around to any — and every one who would receive it. Rest in Peace, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother. You have EARNED your rest.
