In Loving Memory of Annie Pearl Robinson
"I heard the voice of Jesus say, come unto me and rest,
Lay down thy weary one lay down thy head upon my breast...."
Miss Annie Pearl Trammell was born in White Plains, Chambers County, Alabama on August 1, 1910, to the parentage of the late Hattie Royston and the late Penn Trammell.
At an early age, Pearl joined Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Five Points. She united in marriage with the late Walter Robinson and later relocated to Roanoke, where she joined Bethel United Methodist Church. The Robinson marriage was blessed with six children. All but one, preceded her in death. They are: Louella Robinson, Bessie Robinson, Beatrice Hill, Cora Jean Robinson, Ike Robinson, and Walter Robinson, Jr. In addition to her five children, she was also preceded in death by two (2) sisters and four (4) brothers.
During her productive years, she worked for several years as a domestic worker.
For several years, she resided on West Point Street, however, during her senior years, she moved from West Point Street to Avenue "A" where she was closer to her friends and her church. She was faithful in her attendance and service to Bethel, serving as a member of the Altar Guild, and Communion Stewardess. As the next door neighbor to Bethel United Methodist Church, she faithfully kept a watchful eye over the church building and property making sure that Bethel remained secure and unbreached. "Miss Pearl" as everyone in the neighborhood came to know her, enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and growing beautiful flower gardens. She was especially fond of attending the Roanoke Senior's Center.
But, around 2004, Miss Pearl's health began to decline. She left her home on Avenue “A” to take up residence at Traylor's Nursing Home. Each year seemed to bring on more decline. But by the grace and favor of God, and with the skillful, compassionate care of the staff at Traylor's Nursing Home, Miss Pearl's life journey was extended for several more years.
Her daughter, grandchildren, and friends will carry her legacy of love and devotion in their spirits. They will be grateful for the blessings God bestowed upon them to have her here for 100 years, 7 months and 26 days when her valiant fight to journey on was conquered by Death’s demand. She departed this life early morning hours of Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke.
She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: one (1) daughter, Mrs. Marie Heflin (Tommie) of Roanoke; six grandchildren: Mrs. Jerry A. Dean (Rev. William A. Dean), Charles Jones and Vicky Robinson all of Roanoke, Alabama; Fred Johnson (Cynthia) of Atlanta, Georgia; Bobby Robinson of Ohio and Danny Robinson (Star) of Long Beach, California; thirteen (13) great grandchildren; seventeen (17) great great grandchildren; two special nieces, Ruby Kate Sims and Clara Baker; and a host of cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
