Angel Robinson Obituary

With deepest sympathy, we announce the passing from this life, of Mrs. Angel June Hambrick Robinson, a native and long-time resident of 1024 Elkin Street, Roanoke, Alabama 36274.

Mrs. Robinson passed away on Saturday morning, January 10, 2015 at her residence in Roanoke.

The Funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon, January 17, 2015, at 1:00 PM from the Mount Olive United Methodist Church, County Road 823, Wadley, Alabama 36276.

Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Wadley, Alabama.

Miss Angel June Hambrick was born in Abanda, Chambers County, Alabama, on July 22, 1940 to the parentage of the late Willie and Ruth LaVada (Veal) Hambrick.

At an early age, Angel joined the Mount Olive United Methodist Church which was situated in the community known as "Dickert" in Wadley, Alabama.

Her family later migrated to Roanoke, where Angel attended the historic Randolph County Training School (R.C.T.S.), graduating with the Class of 1958. During her tenure at R.C.T.S. she distinguished herself as Vice-President of her class. After graduation, Angel attended Alabama A & M University in Huntsville. While there, she worked as a school teacher for one year.

She later returned home, where she worked for Terry Manufacturing Company for about a year.

On October 26, 1965, she married the late Alfloyd Rufus Robinson.

As a result of loss of her vision, Angel became homebound, but remained fiesty and outspoken, never allowing her visual impairment to get her down. She was known as one who believed in "telling it like is." Angel did not mince words. Despite her visual impairment she never gave up.

In later years, Angel was befriended by Mr. Dennis Wayne Culberson, fondly known as "Bo," who became her constant companion and a devoted care-giver. Tragically, he mysteriously disappeared and has never been seen or heard from. But it was her desire to make known how appreciative and grateful she was to have such a wonderful friend in her life, as Mr. Culberson.

Angel was preceded in death by both her parents; her beloved siblings: Willie Robert Simmons, and Kathy LaVerne Allen; her spouse, Alfloyd Rufus Robinson; her Uncle Arnton Veal; and Aunt Bessie Waller; On January 10, 2015, God stilled another voice of one we loved, when Angel closed her eyes in death and bid this world farewell.

She leaves to cherish many beloved memories, one (1) nephew, Jamvic Bernard Allen of LaGrange, Georgia, and one (1) niece, Felicia Rene' Hendricks of Roanoke, Alabama; one (1) Great Nephew, DeWandis Andrew Holden, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia and one (1) great neice, Sunshine Foster of Roanoke, Alabama; three (3) special friends: Dennis Wayne Culberson, Delores Foster, and Mittie Williams, and a host of cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.

This is her life story as told to Charlotte A. Clark-Frieson, October 12, 1994.
