In Loving Memory Of Jason Jerome Lewis

Jason Jerome Lewis was born in Randolph County, Alabama on March 18, 1977, to the parentage of the late Jerome and Helen (Phillips) Lewis.

Jason grew up here in the neighborhood, attending Roanoke City Schools. He was a 1995 graduate of Handley High School. Right out of high school on September 16, 1995, Jason journeyed to Montgomery, Alabama, where he entered into the United States Navy, serving our grateful nation until September 25, 1998. He served at sea 2 years, 8 months 18 days. His military decorations included The National Defense Service Medal, Battle "E" Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Having earned the rank of E-3, he was honorably discharged at Mayport, Florida in 1998.

After discharge from the military, Jason worked as a self-employed barber. Except for very brief periods of time, such as military duty, Jason remained close to home. He was a very family oriented young man, who enjoyed nothing better than hanging out with family and friends. A zealous fan, he was among the most spirited of Alabama Football worshippers.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Lewis; step-grandfather, Gary E. Owens; He transitioned from this life on Monday evening, September 16, 2019 at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama in Wedowee.

Jason was loved and supported by many, and he gave so many smiles to the world; he will be deeply missed by the whole community. A storehouse of memories remain with his six children, including three (3) sons and three (3) daughters: Jason Jerome Lewis, Jr., Justin Antowain Lewis and Jaylon Jerrod Lewis of LA; Mykerria Hicks of Lake City, FL, Zanautica Smith and Morgan Noell Lewis both of Roanoke, AL; his mother, Mrs. Helen Lewis of Roanoke, AL; two (2) grandmothers, Mrs. Audrey Owens also of Roanoke, AL and Ms. Willie Pearl McGrant of Jacksonville, FL; Great Grandmother, Ms. Willie Pinky Lewis of Roanoke, AL; five (5) brothers: Mycquail Antowain Lewis, Corey Matthew Lewis, and Derrick Ramsey Lewis, all of Roanoke, AL; Marcus Anthony Lewis and Jamie Jerome Lewis both of Atlanta, GA; two (2) sisters: Sonya Markeece Lewis Whitlow (Londeria) of Alpharetta, GA; and Zikaya McCowan of Roanoke, AL; two (2) grandchildren; five other siblings: James Roger Nolen, Phillip Patrick Nolan, Rochelle Nolan Calloway, Shanta Felisa Calloway and Santwania Lashae Thompson all of Roanoke, AL; and finally but not least, a special friend, Ms. Megan Mitchell and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
